Kayla Trafford is a business and corporate transactional attorney with experience advising companies on entity formation, governance, commercial transactions, and regulatory compliance. She has worked closely with start-ups, established businesses, and international corporations, providing guidance on contract drafting, operational structure, and risk mitigation. Her background includes assisting with mergers and acquisitions, secured transactions, commercial leasing, and a wide range of business agreements, giving her a strong foundation in both transactional work and issue-spotting for growing enterprises.
Kayla’s practice is informed by a deep academic and practical foundation. During law school, she served as a Student Attorney in the University of Denver’s Community Economic Development Clinic, where she advised small businesses and drafted governance and commercial documents tailored to each client’s operational needs. She further developed her skills through positions at Mallon Lonnquist Morris & Watrous, Alterra Mountain Company, and RBS Law, gaining hands-on experience with commercial contracts, corporate acquisitions, real estate transactions, and estate planning matters. Kayla also wrote multiple publications for The Race to the Bottom corporate law blog and completed directed research on the underrepresentation of women in equity partnerships within Big Law.
Before law school, Kayla earned her B.A. in Law from the University of Arizona, graduating magna cum laude and receiving several academic distinctions. She has been recognized for her leadership and involvement in legal organizations throughout her academic career.
Outside the office, Kayla loves getting outside and enjoying everything Colorado has to offer alongside her husband and their dog.
