In this blog series from Denver car accident attorney Dan Foster, he discusses the 5 biggest mistakes you can make following a car accident.
#3: Giving a Statement to the Responsible Party’s Insurance Company
After a car accident, the responsible party’s insurance company will immediately assign a claim adjustor to the case. The adjustor will try to contact you (usually multiple times) and attempt to convince you to provide a recorded statement. Do not provide a statement without consulting an attorney.
You have zero obligation to provide a statement to the insurance company. A recorded statement can be very damaging to your personal injury case later down the road.
