Legal Fab Five spread the word on move via video, Rocky Mtn. News

The young-pup legal beagles at Foster Graham Milstein Calisher are movin’ on up to the big time, a dee-luxe office in the sky.

To announce the move from their more humble Golden Triangle surroundings to the Big Leagues of 17th Street, Danny, David (there are two Fosters) Bob, Michael and Dan (in that order) created a snappy video to announce the change of venue.

The sunglasses-clad Fab Five were shot in black and white walking to their new digs on the 19th floor at 621 17th St. Swinging briefcases, they cruise the mean streets of Denver toward the financial district.

“We were going to use the theme from Mission Impossible,” said Danny Foster, the rabbi’s son, “but the theme is copyright protected. Then we wanted a U2 song, but it was copyright protected.”

So rather than taking on a lawsuit along with the new space, the lawyers gained legal permission from Sister Hazel to use the song One Love.

In the video, the earnest attorneys stop along the way to grab a bite from McDonald’s and raise glasses of adult beverages to toast the move. The 1 1/2-minute video, directed by local videographer Larry Alexander, changes to color near the end where five fingers press No. 19 in the elevator.

“While we take the practice of law seriously, we don’t take ourselves too seriously,” Danny said.

The firm sent the video announcement to an e-mail list of 1,600. The Fosters’ mom, former City Council President Joyce Foster, then forwarded the clip to 100 folks on her e-mail list.

“Her 100 were much more influential,” Danny said.

The video announcement cost about a third of the price of a mailer, he said. “At the very least, no one who sees it will forget that we moved and send mail to our old address.”
